New sales figures for British cheese show that the shoppers at Marks and Spencer have finally accepted what everyone else has known for years - British cheese is better than French.

There are cheesy grins all round at Nottinghamshire-based Cropwell Bishop Creamery,  after their Blue Stilton was named Supreme Champion at The Nantwich International Cheese Show, the largest and most prestigious cheese show in the world. The show attracted 2,716 entries from 24 different countries and to be named Supreme Champion is  a huge accolade. Cropwell Bishop were certainly the cream of the crop this year picking up a further 5 gold medals in different classes and last month their organic Stilton won the reserve supreme title at The Great Yorkshire Show.

Speciality cheese maker, Cropwell Bishop Creamery, has offered a lifeline to dairy farmers in Derbyshire stricken by the recent failure of the Dairy Farmers of Britain co-operative.

Cropwell Bishop Creamery is honoured to have taken part in the annual Pailherols cheese festival in Southern France. see the festival web site. CBC were kindly asked to participate at the festival to highlight the best of British produce, Cropwell Bishop Blue Stilton Cheese. The festival is very well renowned in the area and has been going for many years. It attracts visitors not only from France but also from neighbouring European countries and from Great Britain.

Cropwell Bishop Creamery have been invited to take part in a famous cheese festival in Southern France located a village called Pailherols. Pailherols is small mountain village with a rich history of cheese, the festival is widely renowned and 10,000 visitors are expected over the weekend long festival. Cropwell Bishop Creamery are honoured to be taking part in such a prestigous cheese festival and look forward to showing the French some of the best cheese England has to offer. Robin Skailes and his wife are driving all the way to Pailherols to showcase the cheese.

Amanda Hobbs, Cropwell Bishop Creamery's Quality Assurance Manager achieved the Master Stilton Grader certification. Amanda has been at the dairy for 18 years and is now one of only 2 people in the world to have achieved this certification - everyone at Cropwell Bishop Creamery is very proud of her!  On receiving the award Amanda said, “I am thrilled and delighted to be certified as a Master Stilton Grader.  I am fortunate to work with such a great team of really knowledgeable people at Cropwell Bishop and I'm looking forward to the future.  However right now I'm off to celebrate!”

Cropwell Bishop Blue Shropshire shone out at this year’s otherwise damp Great Yorkshire Show (8th to 10th July), winning first prizes in categories for Two Halves of Blue Cheese and Speciality Blue-Veined Cheese.

Cropwell Bishop Creamery, the family run award winning Stilton producer, held long service presentations for two key members of staff yesterday (30th October 2007). Godfrey Allison and Paul Oliver have both worked for over 25 years at the Creamery.
