Cropwell Bishop Creamery wins 3 top trophies with its 3 top cheeses:
Best Organic Cheese Trophy was won by Cropwell Bishop Organic Stilton; The David Reed Trophy for Best PDO (protected designation of origin) Cheese was won by Cropwell Bishop Traditional Stilton; Best Traditional British Cheese Trophy was won by Cropwell Bishop Blue Shropshire
Cropwell Bishop Creamery set a precedent for the British Cheese Awards this year by winning three major awards with three different cheeses. It was also something of a coup to win Best Traditional British Cheese with a blue cheese – Blue Shropshire is a blue-veined, russet coloured cheese with a slightly sweet, nutty flavour.
Cropwell Bishop Organic Blue Stilton is the creamery’s flagship cheese and has been consistently top of its class since picking up supreme champion at the British Cheese Awards in 2003; Cropwell Bishop Traditional Blue Stilton has long been a favourite on cheese boards and continues to go from strength to strength. The Awards Ceremony was held in Cheltenham on Friday evening (29th September) and hosted by Juliet Harbutt.
“These Awards are very important to us” said Ian Skailes, joint Managing Director of Cropwell Bishop Creamery. “There are so many excellent British cheeses made now and competition is extremely high so we are honoured to have our three main cheeses awarded such prestigious prizes”
