Cropwell Bishop Creamery wins again at the Bakewell Show 2006!

They’ve done it again. Cropwell Bishop Creamery have won a total of 9 prizes at the Bakewell Show – including the Stilton Cheese Makers Association Trophy for Best Blue Stilton and also the Millway Trophy for Best Blue Cheese for their Blue Shropshire. “Deliciously smooth and creamy with a nutty, rounded flavour” was how judges described the Blue Shropshire.

Blue Shropshire is a blue-veined, red-coloured, unpressed cheese. Made in a similar way to Stilton, although its texture is more open and its flavour nuttier. The name is somewhat misleading since the cheese has never been made in the county of Shropshire. Cropwell Bishop Creamery has been making Blue Shropshire, by hand, in the traditional way for over fifteen years.

Cropwell Bishop’s flagship creamy, full-flavoured Blue Stilton brought home the coveted SCMA Trophy for best Stilton in Show.

Cropwell Bishop are on a winning streak this year – having already won a barrowful of trophies across the board but “the Bakewell Show is always a firm favourite with the Creamery” said Ian Skailes, joint Managing Director. “Bakewell is our regional show and it means a lot to us to win these prizes.”

Cropwell Bishop Creamery in Nottinghamshire, is a family-owned and run dairy, with origins dating back to 1847 and famous for its flagship Blue Stilton the world over. All the cheeses are hand-made, using traditional methods. The Creamery also makes Organic Blue Stilton, Blue Shropshire and a range of White Stiltons.

Bakewell Show was established in 1819 and the Cheese Competition has been running since 1989, with increasing entries each year.
