Cropwell Bishop Blue Shropshire shone out at this year’s otherwise damp Great Yorkshire Show (8th to 10th July), winning first prizes in categories for Two Halves of Blue Cheese and Speciality Blue-Veined Cheese.
The russet coloured, mellow blue veined cheese is admired by cheese specialists the world over. A different taste and texture to Stilton, Cropwell Bishop’s Blue Shropshire always wows the judges. This year judges John Pearson of Marks and Spencer and Phil Godwin of Booths found the cheese “outstanding” in what is always a very competitive class. There were 635 entries in this year’s Cheese and Dairy Competition. The judges praised Cropwell Bishop Blue Shropshire for its ‘Wow Factor’
Chief Steward, Jayne Hickinbotham said she was overwhelmed by the high quality at this year’s Show. She said everything that got to the final judging stage was the ‘best of the best’. The Great Yorkshire Show celebrated its 150th anniversary this year and despite the grey weather, over 125,000 flocked to the Harrogate Showground to enjoy a great day out.
Cropwell Bishop Creamery in Nottinghamshire, is a family-owned dairy, with origins dating back to 1847 and famous for its flagship Blue Stilton the world over.
